The iPhone. It’s the phone that changed everything, right? I do know whether or not you even care about the iPhone, you
at least know what it is. Apple has recently become a powerhouse when it comes to the latest technology. They have a way of marketing the same products over and over and we consumers keep buying and buying.
The reason I bring this up is because starting February 10, 2011, Verizon Wireless will now be allowed to sell the Apple iPhone 4. Since 2007, Apple has had a very strict contract with AT&T meaning only AT&T was licensed to sell the iPhone. The rumors have been flying for at least a year regarding the new Verizon iPhone but is it worth the hype?
This new iPhone for Verizon is not going to utilize Verizon’s 4G network, meaning it will run 3G and wireless just like AT&T’s iPhone. The reasoning? In
order to run 4G, Apple would have had to modify the design of the new iPhone 4 and they were not willing to do so.
For those AT&T customers thinking of switching to Verizon immediately, I would break your two year contract just yet. Remember, traditionally Apple releases a new version of the iPhone in June/July. I’m waiting to see what the next generation will bring.
If you are already a part of Verizon’s network and you are considering the iPhone, just consider how much your data plan is going to be for unlimited data if it’s offered. You might be better off waiting a little while. If you can’t wait, the new 16GB iPhone 4 retails at $199 and the 32GB iPhone 4 retails at $299.
